Data Quality Specialist

A public sector organization in Brussels is looking for an experienced Data Quality Specialist to strengthen its data quality capabilities and support the further development of its data governance environment. As a Data Quality Specialist, you will play a hands-on role in establishing and operating data quality frameworks across the organization. You will be responsible for profiling and assessing data, identifying quality issues, supporting cleansing and remediation activities, and setting up monitoring processes to ensure that data quality remains measurable and sustainable over time.

• A key part of your role will be defining relevant data quality KPIs and translating them into meaningful dashboards and reporting. You will work with dimensions such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and timeliness to provide stakeholders with a clear view of data quality and its evolution.
• You will also investigate the root causes of data quality issues and work with the relevant teams to ensure that corrective actions are implemented at the appropriate source systems. This requires a pragmatic approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate data-related issues into concrete improvements.
• The role involves close collaboration with data owners, data stewards, and other stakeholders operating within the organization's data governance framework. You will therefore need to be comfortable working across both technical and business environments and communicating data quality topics clearly to different audiences.
• You bring at least three years of professional experience in data quality, data governance, or a closely related field. You have hands-on experience with at least one major data quality or data governance platform, such as Collibra, Informatica, or Talend, and you are comfortable engaging directly with business stakeholders.
• Experience in the public sector is considered a strong advantage. Professional fluency in either Dutch or French, combined with a good working knowledge of English, is expected.
• The position is based in Brussels and follows a hybrid working model. It is offered on a freelance or consulting basis, with an immediate start.
