Everything you should know about this event

Data only pays off when you build, manage and use it like a product. Two practitioners share how they made that shift, and what it delivered. You will leave with practical insight into building data-driven organisations, delivering data as products, and using analytics and AI for measurable business impact. Strategic and hands-on, in equal measure.

Traditional AI to measure cannibalisation & halo effects in Retail, by Longhow Lam

20:30 - 22:00
Get-together with the speakers and fellow professionals, drinks & snacks will be provided.

For whom

This meetup is built for managers, leads and project managers of data and IT teams. It is equally relevant if you are a Head of Data, data product manager, or a senior data scientist, analyst or data engineer working with data every day.

The topics

Data Product transformation

How do you turn an internal data service team into a scalable Data Product organisation? Theo shows how product thinking was retrofitted onto existing data operations at Just Eat Takeaway, starting with one question: what actually counts as a Data Product?

Some of the things you’ll learn

  • Shift focus from isolated tables or projects to domain-focussed Data Products that prioritise measurable business outcomes.
  • Use a Service Quality Framework of promises, obligations and constraints to manage consumer expectations and deliver reliably.
  • Apply lifecycle strategies to clarify, optimise, consolidate, reduce or retire Data Products, and keep your cost-to-serve under control.

Traditional AI to measure cannibalisation & halo effects in Retail

Longhow shows how Action uses proven, traditional AI methods to measure cannibalisation & halo effects after promotions and product launches: two embedding methods to shortlist candidate articles, business filters to sharpen that selection, and a Databricks Genie chat agent to share results with non-technical stakeholders.

Some of the things you'll learn

  • Learn how to quantify cannibalisation & halo effects in your own assortment.
  • Discover how embeddings surface the product relationships that matter.
  • Turn proven AI methods into insights your business stakeholders can act on.
